Check in to training and follow up on credit

Submit your check-in, check which account you are using, and follow attendance confirmation and credit.

For volunteers

These steps use the Beacon website unless the iPhone app is mentioned.

In this guide

Open the training you are attending

Use the check-in link your leader shares, or open the training from its calendar event. Check the event name, date, and location before continuing. This matters if your ministry runs the same training more than once.

You may be asked to sign in. If you're new to Beacon and the event offers account creation, follow that link and return to the training afterward. Signing in or creating an account does not submit your check-in.

Look at the account shown on the check-in page. If it belongs to someone else, choose Use another account before continuing.

Review the choices and submit your check-in

  1. Review the event details and any membership requirements. If you are new to the organization, submitting also requests membership. The page explains whether joining the hosting group is required or optional.
  2. Add or unlock your saved name if requested.
  3. Choose Submit check-in, or Save name and submit request if you are adding a name.
  4. Read the receipt. It shows whether your check-in was received or an approval is still needed.

If Beacon cannot confirm the result, use Check whether my request was saved before submitting again.

Some calendar views offer I'm here — check me in directly. Read the result there, or open Check-in details & account options for the full page.

Attendance and credit are separate

Submitting a check-in, confirming attendance, and awarding qualification credit are separate steps. On the receipt, look at Attendance and Qualification as well as the overall check-in status. Use Check status to refresh it.

If you're expecting credit and don't see it, ask your training leader to review your attendance and the qualification requirements. Include the training name and date so they can find the right session.

Your qualification details, when available in your account settings, show recorded qualifications and renewal dates. An expired qualification may need attention before you can take certain serving roles.

If you cannot check in

If the page says a leader records attendance, speak to the event leader. Check-in also closes when the event ends, and cancelled training does not accept new check-ins. If you attended but missed check-in, let the leader know which session you were at.

If your receipt is waiting for organization or group approval, the request is saved. You do not need to create another account or submit it again.
