When something isn’t working
Work out whether you need to sign in, switch communities, or ask for help.
For everyone
These steps use the Beacon website unless the iPhone app is mentioned.
In this guide
Keep what you were working on
Before you reload a page, copy any unsaved writing somewhere private. Note the error message and what you clicked just before it appeared. That makes it easier to pick up where you left off or explain the problem.
If a save or submission seems to have stalled, check the list or detail page for the item before submitting it again. A slow connection can make the result unclear even when the first request went through.
If Beacon sends you back to sign in
Your session may have ended. Sign in with the account you normally use for this community, then return to the page. If you're following an invitation, open the invitation link again after signing in.
Don't create a second account just because you can't see a profile or invitation. First check that you're using the same account you used before. The sign-in guide and account recovery guide cover the next steps.
If a group, profile, or button is missing
Check the selected organization or ministry first. People who belong to more than one community can see different information in each.
Some tools are available only to leaders with the right access. Other tools depend on what your ministry has set up. A missing control doesn't always mean the app is broken. Ask a leader whether your membership or access needs to be updated.
The website and iPhone app also arrange some features differently. If an instruction doesn't match your screen, include which one you're using when you ask for help.
If a page keeps loading
Check whether other pages open, then try loading the Beacon page again once you've saved any unfinished writing. On iPhone, check for an app update if the problem keeps happening.
A calendar in another app may take time to refresh its subscription. Check calendar connections before removing it and starting over.
If you're still stuck, contact the Beacon team with the page name, error message, and the steps you've already tried.
